Genetic screening is performed on our breeding parents: HCM by Echocardiogram, FeLV, PKD, and Orivet genetic panels. Each cat’s current status is shown on its own profile. Every kitten also has its own vet exam before going home.

HCM is the leading cause of early death in Maine Coons. A DNA swab test only screens for one specific genetic mutation, it cannot detect every form of HCM. An echocardiogram physically examines the heart muscle and can identify structural abnormalities the genetic test will completely miss.
We screen our breeding cats by echocardiogram, not just a genetic swab. Each cat’s current status is shown on its profile. Please ask any breeder you consider for proof of echocardiogram results specifically, a genetic panel printout is not the same thing.
