Patty personally reviews every application. We are a closed cattery, but you are absolutely welcome to come to the home for pickup. Kittens can be picked up free at any of our guardian homes, and we will move your kitten to the home nearest you at no added cost. Pickup location varies by guardian home (our homes are in different cities and states) and is confirmed at matching.
Two things shape a Nacoonzi kitten long before it ever meets you: the lines it comes from, and what it eats while it grows.
Our breeding lines.
We began with imported cats from top show catteries in Europe, alongside American lines. Almost all of those original imports have now retired from the program, and nearly every cat we breed today was born here at Nacoonzi out of those American and European lines.
How we feed.
Our adult cats are on Purina Pro Plan and Royal Canin. Kittens start canned food at around four weeks, beginning with Fancy Feast Kitten, and their dry food is Royal Canin Mother & Babycat. We do not force weaning; kittens nurse until their mother decides to stop. You will be told exactly what your kitten is eating so you can keep the same routine going at home.
We follow a structured care and socialization plan from birth. Every kitten is raised underfoot, which is why they arrive confident, affectionate and ready to blend into family life.
Queens move into a handmade birthing box in our bedroom a week before delivery. We observe every birth and assist if needed.
Kittens stay in the bedroom with mom. Daily handling to ensure they are used to touch and smell.
They move to a dedicated nursery. Canned food is introduced at around four weeks, starting with Fancy Feast Kitten, while they carry on nursing. Photographs are taken around week 5 and added to the website.
Kittens explore upstairs during the day and return to the nursery at night. The door is opened to the nursery to expand their area and confidence.
Flea bath and deworming.
The expanded play area downstairs opens.
First age appropriate vaccinations, including rabies. Kittens stay with mom until naturally weaned. At 11 weeks kittens are Spayed or Neutered. They also have their microchips inserted.
Kittens go home, and not before. Twelve weeks with their mother and littermates is what produces a settled, confident cat. They leave on a diet you can carry on at home.
The things worth knowing before you send an application or a deposit.
✓ We do not offer in home visits, but we make sure you see your kitten before it ever travels. Anyone with a free application in can ask for a video call to meet the kittens who are currently available. Once you are matched, you join a weekly Zoom call with all the families adopting from your litter, every week from five weeks until pickup, so you watch your kitten grow up alongside the people raising its littermates. You are welcome in our kitten group the whole way through.
✓ Kittens are placed as indoor only pets.
✓ We do not sell to breeders. Every kitten is spayed or neutered before going home.
✓ We reserve the right to cancel an adoption if the match does not feel right.
✓ Deposits are non refundable, and apply to the total adoption price. Once you have been awarded a kitten, the $300 deposit is due at that time.
✓ We ask families to share updated photos over time, which may appear on our social media.
✓ Once you have been awarded a kitten you can ask for photo and video updates at any time. John, Patty, or the guardian home your kitten is living with will send them.
✓ Trupanion coverage must be activated within 24 hours of pickup. If it is not activated in that window the 30 days of coverage is voided.
